Measuring the pH of food requires a specialised pH electrode: conventional pH electrodes will work but they will have a much shorter life when used to measure food products because the reference junction becomes clogged with food particles. The response time will also be slower and results can become inaccurate. Conventional electrodes are also more difficult to keep clean as food products are often sticky or difficult to remove when dry. The Hanna HI-99161 food pH meter is supplied complete with a specialised food pH electrode designed to overcome these problems.
