General description
Native thrombospondin purified from human platelets. Adhesive glycoprotein released in response to platelet activation by α-thrombin. An angiogenesis inhibitor that blocks the FGF-induced neovascularization of the rat cornea. An inducer of platelet aggregation. Synthesized by a number of different cells and secreted into the extracellular matrix. Involved in the regulation of cellular proliferation.

Physical form
Lyophilized from 600 mM NaCl, 20 mM Tris, 1 mM CaCl2, 20% sucrose, pH 7.8.
Preparation Note
Please refer to lot-specific reconstitution volume on the vial label.
Prepared from platelets that have been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.
Reconstitution
Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C) for long-term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for 1 week at 4°C or for at least 1 month at -70°C. Product is extremely adherent to surfaces; keep frozen (-70°C) before use and use siliconized surfaces to insure product recovery.
