Protamine sulfate salt from salmon, Grade II

Application

Protamine sulfate salt from salmon has been used in the generation of protamine silica nanocomposites.

May be used for the removal of DNA from protein samples or for the purification of DNA binding proteins. It may be used as an alternative to polybrene in retroviral-mediated gene transfer.Protamine in the form of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) promoted transfection with plasmid DNA more efficiently and with less cytotoxicity than comparable SLNs composed of Esterquat-1.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protamine sulfateis highly preferred in cardiovascular surgical procedures to reverse theanticoagulantproperties of heparin. It is used for biomedical and biotechnological applications due to its biodegradablity.

Protamine sulfate is a small cationic protein that binds and precipitates DNA. Neutralizes the anticoagulant activity of heparin. Inhibits lipoprotein lipase.

General description
