Meldonium exhibits anti-ischemic activity and shows therapeutic effects against cerebral and cardiac ischemic disorders.

Meldonium is an Inhibitor of γ-butyrobetaine hydroxylase (BBOX) a key enzyme in the synthesis of carnitine.
