Biochem/physiol Actions

C-phycocyanin, a biliprotein with antioxidant properties, was shown to induce apoptosis in HeLa cells by stimulating expression of pro-apoptotic genes as well as by inducing increased release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria.

C-phycocyanincan act as an active inhibitor of A53T?-synuclein. It possess anti-inflammatory properties.
